Chelsea are reportedly looking into a move for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba next month.
The Austria international has only seven months remaining on his Bayern deal and talks over an extension have broken down.
As a result, he will be free to hold talks with foreign clubs in January and a number of teams are monitoring his situation.
According to Bild, the Blues are keen on landing his signature as early as next month and they will try to convince Bayern into a mid-season deal.
Should Bayern be willing to negotiate, there could be a bidding battle with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also interested.
Alaba has been a regular at the heart of the defence this term with 15 appearances for Bayern.
He has accumulated 400 appearances for the Bavarian giants since his debut more than a decade ago.
Aside from Alaba, Jerome Boateng‘s deal also expires next summer and the club have yet to negotiate an extension.
