Atletico Madrid have reportedly made a move to sign out of favour striker Moussa Dembele on loan from Lyon. Having allowed Diego Costa to leave on a free transfer, Atleti are scouring the January transfer market to find an attacking replacement and are confident a deal for Dembele will be pushed through before the end of the month.
For a time, Dembele had been considered one of Europe’s in-form strikers and one of the continent’s best young talents. Having scored 32 goals in over 70 games in Ligue 1 for the French side, and it appears that the forward now is seeking a new challenge. Lyon signed Dembele from Celtic in August 2018 for £20m.
West Ham are amongst the sides that have been linked with a transfer for Dembele, but the forward is known to favour a transfer to Spain.
The 24-year-old striker could join the La Liga side – who currently sit in first place in the league table – on a six month deal, before a permanent transfer for around 70 million euros in the summer.
