Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has expressed his relief after avoiding a serious injury during the 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The England international suffered a nervy few minutes after he turned his ankle, but he was able to carry on for the entire game.
Speaking after the goalless stalemate, Chilwell said that he was pleased to have avoided an injury and is hopeful to feature against Sevilla in midweek.
“I was desperate to carry on and thankfully I ran it off. It’s fine now so I’m just looking forward to recovering and hopefully playing again in midweek,” He told.
Chilwell had to wait for three weeks into the new season to make his Blues debut, given he joined them from Leicester City when he was nursing a heel injury.
Since his debut, he has not put a foot wrong for the west London giants and he has contributed two goals and three assists from 13 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea are scheduled to face Sevilla on the road in Wednesday’s Champions League clash. They can seal the top spot in their group with a victory over the Andalusian outfit.
