Arsenal have reportedly cooled their interest in Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar ahead of the January transfer window.
The Gunners were heavily linked with the Frenchman in the summer, but their £35m offer was not sufficient to finalise a deal.
Les Gones were looking for around £55m for their playmaker and they are set to demand a similar fee in the upcoming transfer window.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners are unlikely to revive their interest in the 22-year-old amid the non-negotiable asking price.
Instead, they believe Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt is a more realistic target and he could be pursued for a lower price next month.
Brandt contributed a combined 20 goals and assists last term, but he has struggled this term with just one goal and an assist in all competitions.
His playing time has obviously reduced with the return of Marco Reus after injury and he has been restricted to a cameo role of late.
